Who are we?

Andy McDowell

Director

Andy McDowell founded Focal Point New Zealand to help leaders unlock their potential and achieve sustainable growth. With over 25 years’ experience spanning entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, and professional coaching, Andy brings both credibility and practical insight to every client engagement.

Andy spent 10 years as an award-winning business owner, experiencing first-hand the challenges and opportunities of building and leading a successful enterprise. This period shaped his deep understanding of what it takes to grow a business, manage people, and deliver results under pressure.

Following this, Andy moved into senior corporate leadership roles with Fonterra, Aramex, and Toll, where he built high-performing teams, drove business development, and led large-scale strategy execution. Earlier still, his career began in professional sport as a cricket coach, where he immersed himself in high-performance environments that demanded clarity, resilience, and effective leadership.

Today, through Focal Point NZ, Andy combines the lessons from sport, business ownership, and corporate leadership to coach business owners and executives. His services range from behavioral assessments, one-on-one coaching and various performance improvement programmes.

Andy is passionate about personal and professional development, believing that growth as a leader begins with growth as an individual. His mission is to help clients gain clarity, strengthen leadership capability, and close the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

Scott Jenyns

Director

I have over 20 years’ experience across the franchising, transport & logistics, and education sectors in both New Zealand and Australia. My career has progressed through a mix of executive roles and board appointments, giving me a genuine appreciation of the real challenges and opportunities faced by business owners at both an operational and governance level.

I have held senior executive and governance roles, including CEO of Aramex (formerly Fastway Couriers) New Zealand, where I led the transformation of one of the country’s pioneering franchise brands, guiding a network of more than 350 franchisees and staff, scaling operations nationwide, and helping position the business for global expansion and acquisition by Aramex. This journey gave me a deep, practical understanding of what drives both franchisor and franchisee success. I have also chaired a bulk line haulage company where we shaped strategy and navigated the complexities of a demanding transport sector.

I am also a past Board Member of the Franchise Association of New Zealand, where I contributed to strengthening the profile and development of franchising nationally.

At Perform+, our goal is to help individuals and organisations achieve clarity, confidence, and sustainable performance improvement. Drawing on my experience I bring practical insight into the challenges leaders face every day. This enables us to design coaching and advisory solutions that are not only grounded in proven global frameworks, but also shaped by real-world understanding of what drives business success.

Andy was responsible for all KINGS commercial and operational matters in NZ. He took complete ownership of the business and led the NZ team through some very difficult economic times especially during the extensive COVID lockdown and periods.

Andy’s leadership qualities were evident when the NZ business unit required a complete safety and compliance reset which resulted in NZTA’s acknowledgment of industry leading standards.

I would not hesitate in recommending him for country leadership and P&L ownership roles given his contribution and overall performance.

Andrew Collett

Chief Executive Officer

Andy and I met over 20 years ago through representative cricket and we quickly became great friends. A charismatic, natural leader, Andy easily builds strong, genuine connections on both a personal and professional level. One on one, or in team environments Andy’s empathy, understanding, and leadership has earnt him a tremendous amount of respect from both his friends and colleagues. This respect, teamed with his vision and drive has allowed him to succeed in any business ventures he has been involved in, and to build an admirable career to date.

I wouldn’t hesitate in highly recommending Andy to any business.

Hamish Marshall

Director

I had the pleasure of working with Scott for over 20 years at Fastway Couriers/Aramex. I watched Scott progress from an entry-level field based operational role through to CEO. Scott was a passionate business leader who led from the front. He provided a strong example to those around him of the importance of developing customer relationships, meeting and exceeding customer needs, and growing the business through innovation, Scott was able to motivate teams of people through his energy, hands on approach, and consistency. It was a pleasure to work alongside Scott.

Mark McLintock

Chief Financial Officer

I’ve worked with Scott Jenyns on a variety of projects and found him to be a reliable, community-focused leader. As a General Manager, he balances strategic thinking and operational pragmatism, from managing supply chain reviews, deploying governance and policy frameworks, to exploring AI tools for efficiency.

His communication is clear, timely, and purposeful. He asks the right questions, challenges assumptions, and is always on the lookout for practical improvements. He’s open to innovation, but only when it makes sense.

On a personal level, he’s easy to work with: respectful, collaborative, and straightforward. Whether we’re talking IT initiatives or programme budgets, he brings integrity and consistency to every interaction.
I’d confidently recommend Scott to any organisation needing a leader who gets things done with clarity and thoughtfulness.
